Where did the summer go? It seems like we were just gearing up for the warmer months, and yet they’ve already sped away! Of course, the end of the summer means it’s time to get the kids ready to go back to school. Keep yourself sane and get your kids excited by using these tips for getting everyone ready to go back to school.
- Get To Know The School: Unless your son or daughter is returning to a school in which he or she already feels comfortable, it’s a good idea to take the time to visit the school. Tour the hallways and help your student learn his or her way around to avoid stress on the first day. If possible, meet your son or daughter’s teacher while you are there.
- Get Your Routine Back: So that the first Monday back isn’t a mad dash, start adjusting back into your school routine a couple of weeks in advance. In increments of 15 minutes, move towards school year bedtimes and wake up times.
- Get Your Student Excited: To encourage enthusiasm about the new year, start playing games and doing activities that play to your child’s academic strengths. For example, if your student loves reading, go to the library and pick out a fun summer read to work through in the last couple of weeks before school.
